Job description
Cat resource center is in need of a Social Media Editor to gather and promote program information to be placed on our social media platforms.
This vital team member will coordinate a team and be responsible for planning, developing and executing strategic social media initiatives, campaigns, and programs.

This volunteer will also be responsible for researching and writing original content, and supervising our current social media accounts.

All material posted should be verified for accuracy. There are six campaigns that the Social Media Editor will market and promote on our Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Blogger, Youtube, and LinkedIn accounts.

This position that will provide the volunteer with an opportunity to coordinate social media content by working directly with several project managers. It will also provide the volunteer with a chance to devise a comprehensive social media strategy. We expect the volunteer to be able to contribute four hours a week

Specific duties will include:

Coordinate with existing projects to develop an overall strategy

Write original content. Find illustrations that will fit blogs and develop new ones that can be scheduled.


Oversee communications calendar

Find new volunteers interested parties and enlist them to help with re-posting social media

Review all material daily, and review pages for inappropriate material


Qualifications:

A highly motivated, diligent self-starter with a positive attitude, a desire to learn, a passion for non-profit work, and a love for our oceans

Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team-environment

Familiarity with all the major social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Blogger, Youtube, and LinkedIn

Applicants must have received, or be pursuing, at least a college degree. In lieu of a college degree, the applicant must have relevant experience with social media and writing

Background in biology, business, public relations, and marketing is desired

Excellent writing and communication skills are required
